We are looking for volunteers to help with building this website and making it a true asset to all of us in East Texas. While there is a ton of things to do, we have plenty of time as long as we just keep moving forward. All positions are volunteer ones. At some point in the future, we may have some paid positions but that is a ways in the future.

There are a myriad ways that you can help. Here are just a few:

Section Chief – are you knowledgeable in any certain area of nature such as birds, reptiles & amphibians, plants, trees, insects, spiders, butterflies, mushrooms,  geology, and almost any subset of these?  In this position, you would assist or take over your area of expertise.  Responsibilities include building/maintaining the ID Guide for area. There is assistance available with obtaining the photographs. Much of the work involves creating text for each of the species and the information needed is available in a variety of locations on the internet. You would search for it, write your version of it and forward it to me for insertion into the website.

GREAT NEED here for a multitude of areas.

Writer – do you have the ability to write interesting short articles dealing with different aspects of nature. Most posts are 500 to 750 words but longer articles are also welcome.

Photographer – are you a photographer? Do you have a selection of photos of nature that are of good quality? You might join us a photographer and have your own gallery to feature your work. We also have a need for individual photos of birds, insects, mammals, butterflies, flowering plants and any other type of living thing in East Texas. Full credit for all photos is given.

Events Manager – can you enter data on the computer (fill in the blank)? We really need someone to take over the Events Section. In this position, you would merely search for nature-related events in East Texas and create entries for them on our website. It is so simple and you will be thoroughly trained to do this–most of it is merely fill in the blank.

Your Own Position – do you see other ways you could assist with this site–Skills you have, knowledge you can share?  Contact me and give me your ideas. My email address is on the Contact Page (on the menu above). I would appreciate it.

Spring Became Fall Overnight Or So It Seems

What a crazy year we have had. I have been caught up in too many things to spend much time rebuilding this site. I was able to recover the old one and will be moving the old blog posts over as soon as I can. Hopefully, I will also be adding new ones. It seems that it...

Rebuilding this site and adding the new features will be a slow process. My main aim at the moment is completing the Bird ID page and reposting the older blogs that I haven't gotten to yet. Then we will be adding new features. If you would like to take part with the...

IT’S NOT ALL HERE YET!!!

We are making good progress but still have a ways to go in moving the older material over to the new site. I am going to go ahead and make the site live, even though I haven't added the photo galleries, NETFO, the ID section, or other important parts of the site....
